RT Templates from 2.5 to 3.0

Posted 12 years 5 months ago
    • The upgrade from older templates is in progress, I believe.
Following my information, these templates are being updated at this moment.

        Fracture (In Progress)
        Kirigami (In Progress)
        Ximenia (In Progress)
        Fresco (In Progress)
And many others (not in progress, but planned)

My question is very, very simple. My question is directed to the RT developers who are updating these templates:
      - When can we exptect them to be ready voor J3.0?
I want to start with my new site (own site) on J 3.0, but want to know if Kirigami would take 2 months, 2 weeks or 2 days... Please answer my question, because there isn't any reaction on PM, twitter and another topic someone started.

    • hi there,

for kirigami i can say it is pretty much done and it will be released most likely this weekend, latest on monday.
fracture probably within the next week. for ximenia and fresco i'd estimate the first week after the december template release if all goes well.

      hope this helps, kat :)

    • @ KAT05:
That is great news! Thank you for working so hard on this. I will upgrade my account in a minute! I've tried myself to make a 2.5 RT template (that I had bought, begin this year) work on 3.0, but I failed  Can't wait until this weekend, Kirigami is my favorit.

      @ MrT:
Thank you for your reply. I understand your concerning about J3.0, but I want to use the newest of the newest this time. Layout in 2.5 or 3.0 for desktop computers would not make any difference. But for phone, which is becoming increasingly important day by day, is 3.0 a step in a good direction I think. Also with the upgrade in end of 2013 to 3.5 in my mind. I think it is easier to upgrade to 3.5 with 3.0 as CMS.
Also, this website is not a production website, but for my own, there is no confidential information on my website.

I'm very charmed by the new options in 3.0 (esp. the phone/responsive possibilities).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's vision and expectation.

    • Ok no problem - it's your choice, I just thought i'd point out the official advice from Joomla. Also, as you're using our template and gantry - the template is responsive and works on iphone/ipads etc in the joomla 2.5 version - so I'm not sure what you'll actually be gaining from joomla 3.0 in reality (other than the new look in the backend)... but hey, that's just me... :D

      Regards, Mark.

MrT: You are completely right, but: the Menu for mobile phones is in Kirigami still a dropdown, in Joomla 3.0 it'll become more styled, more like the bootstrap way I believe. You can check the difference in Metropolis vs Kirigami. Metropolis has it styled on a mobile phone, while Kirigami has a -sorry- bad looking menu on phone. For me this is important because I have a lot of menu... Maby I'm wrong and this can be styled in 2.5, but I believe in the bootstrap and Gantry on 3.0.
I also agree with you that the best way for production websites, still would be 2.5.X
