How to Migrate content and users

    • I'm switching from shared hosting to a VPS and in the process I wish to use one of the new responsive Rockettheme templates (Great work guys!)

I want to start off by using a rocketlauncher package because when using a new template I love having the sample data in there based on the demo. This allows me to easily fill in the holes.

The problem I'm having though, is that I need to migrate the users and article content, categories and menus.

Exporting and importing the entire mySQL database only gives me a replica of my old site.

What I'd like to achieve is to install with rocketlauncher package and have my site start off as the demo while still having my users with my content loaded and ready to fill in.

    • Basically, there must be a way to just import articles, categories, menus and users without messing up the demo layout. lol...

      cheers!

    • I have just installed Metropolis and have this same question. Though I already had Gantry and Joomal 2.5 installed. We have installed all template extensions from RT as recommended I too would like to know how to bring articles and a couple directories into the new template format using the RT extensions. Have yet to find anything in your tutorials or forum that answers this.

    • this is surely not theme related so I suggest to post in the official Joomla-forum and ask the helpful people over there.
