Creating 2 Column on Profile Page

I am trying to create a 2 column layout on the profile page:
I have created a menu item called /user/user/edit
Created an override for that menu item and have published a module in sidebar A .
why cant I get it to display. ?

I am sorry but we can't provide support for Joomla 1.5 any more. Please check this blog post (published in 2011) which announce this possibility and clearly states reasons why
