    Phone Number error in Firefox

    Posted 12 years 3 months ago
    • The responsive layout for the templates are wonderful! However we are having an issue with the phone number.

      We have the phone number on the page coded so when on a smart phone it will dial the number when clicked. Here is the code:
      <p style="text-align: right;"><em><span style="font-size: 14pt;"> <a href="tel:719-520-0614"> Call us for a free consultation at (719) 520-0164 </a> </span></em>
      </p>

      However this is causing errors in FireFox and Safari on a lap top computer. Chrome handled it and I am on a Mac and do not have IE - so not sure there.

      Firefox says "The address wasn't understood. Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (tel) isn't associated with any program."

      Safari says "Cannot open the specified address."

      What is the recommended way to code a phone number link so it will dial on a smartphone and still work in common browsers?

      Thank you!
