I use Colloquy on the Mac, on the PC I used to use Trillian, there are a bunch of different clients to choose from.

You can use irc clients, like mIRC :
www.mirc.com/get.html
Download one and installe it, then type in the mIRC command line :
/server irc.slashnet.org
/j #rockettheme
And we can have a chat there
