RocketTheme's Plan for MooTools going forward

    • I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I have been unable to find concrete answer.

What is RocketTheme's plan for using MooTools in their products going forward? With Joomla's switch to jQuery, it seems as if MooTools will eventually be phased out entirely.

Loading two javascript libraries might be fine for a personal site or a very small business site, but it's quite inefficient -- I will not be using any extensions that require MooTools once I start using Joomla 3.x for projects. I'm not going to start using Joomla 3 until after they release a long term support version of it (3.1 or 3.5, or whatever the version number might be) but I'm always planning for the future and hope to see that RocketTheme is also.

    • 1. Joomla is NOT "switching" to JQuery.
Joomla switches to "use what ever you want". Witch is good of course.

      2. Mootools has the big advantage of modularity. We keep our mootools code as lean and lightweight as possible, so loading-time is not really an issue.

      3. latest JQuery DROPPED support for ie8 an ie7. I think ie8 will still be around for some time.

... so as far as I know: RT will stick to Mootools for Joomla products ...
