RT versus the competition

    • I've been an RT subscriber for a few years now,

Recently i was forced to signup for another club, because they offered a perfect, DJ classifieds bundled template. It was going to make the job quick, simple, and over in a couple of days.

So i purchased this template, from one of the other "popular" joomla template clubs and got to work, quite intrigued as to what i would find inside the package, in comparison to what i was used to with the RT template customisations and variations.

I was pleasantly surprised, to find my RT templates surpassed any features this crowd had to offer.

Very limited customisation in the Template Manager, not anywhere near the module suffixes available in RT Templates, and all css modifications were recommended, by their "forum-team", to be made in the original css files.

Requests by customers, in their forums, for ways to "do this or that", were more often than not, met with "arrogant" replies of "customisation of templates is beyond the scope of this discussion forum, you must lodge a ticket for paid support".

So i'm really pleased i've joined a company that tries hard to keep their customers. And offer superior products than their competition. Products designed with the "web designer" in mind. Love them.

And in closing, the new March template from RT, a little bit similar to Fracture, even in the way it uses a "different" font, is another nice template, full with customisation.

One more comment, I am always a little disappointed with the limited styles offered in "module variations". I thought after putting so much work into putting a template together, a few more variations in module backgrounds, styles, colors etc, wouldn't be much extra work.

I know we can do it ourself, but hey, this is about making building websites, easy, click and choose ... but at the same time, offering the ability to fully customise it to your liking.

      Good job girls and guys.

    • Hi there,

Thanks for the kind words - we do our best :cheesy:

The downside with making templates "click and choose" is that quite a few customers would soon realise they don't need a web developer just their own RocketTheme membership.

We also have to consider the size of the templates so too much variation can add extra weight in terms of unused less/css coding.

So you see, we have to play a balancing act and hope that most of the time we get it right.

But thanks for the feedback, always appreciated.
