    SOLVED RocketLauncher Instructions

Posted 12 years 1 month ago
    • Hello, please help!!

I just bought the Chapelo template for Joomla 3.0. I installed the bundle template, as it says to do here: demo.rockettheme.com/

However, now I am completely lost at what to do for the following section.

I've downloaded the RocketLauncher and unzipped the file.

But now I am completely lost on what to do next (where I've put in bold below).

Can someone please help explain the step by step on what to do next????? How do I upload the created folder onto my server etc?????

      RocketLauncher Instructions

We always recommend installing a RocketLauncher first to trial and understand the template more effectively. It must be installed as new, and not over an existing Joomla install.

      Step 1 - Upload
      Download the RocketLauncher
      Unzip the file
Upload the created folder to your server
Note: You can upload all the files via FTP, or use cPanel or SSH to upload the zip and unzip directly onto the server. Enquire with your hosting provider.

      Step 2 - Installation
      Go to www.yoursite.com/*folder name*
      Follow the Installation instructions
Remove the installation folder in the Installation interface

    • Hi
and welcome to the forums :)

Okay lets start from the beginning so we're on the same page when describing things.
For Joomla 2.5.x and 3.0.x we offer 3 installation packages:
      1. RocketLauncher which contains the latest Joomla core installation, the template itself and the Gantry framework which is like the Control Panel for the template and a mix of Rockettheme extensions.
This package needs an empty folder on your server and you will get your Joomla core installed, the Gantry framework and the template. During installation choosing to install "Sample Data" will make the installed site look like the demo. However our newer templates will install this automatically for you.

      2. Bundle which is the Gantry framework and the template itself.
This package is used when there is a previous Joomla installation with a non-Rockettheme template installed. After installation you have the required the Gantry framework and the template. No "Sample Data" is offered as your Database already contains site content information. There are no extensions offered with this package since they have to be installed in folders outside of the Rockettheme template folder.

      3. Template Standalone which is the template itself.
This package is used when there is a previous Joomla installation with a Rockettheme template installed. Since Gantry would have been previously installed, it's only required to install the template (although upgrading to the latest Gantry is highly recommended). Again no "Sample Data" is offered as your Database already contains site content information and the same situation for extensions as the "Bundle".

So lets pick option #1 - the RocketLauncher.
You've downloaded the package to your HDD.

      CPANEL option (preferred):
      1. Create folder to install your RocketLauncher or use the ROOT of the server account
      2. Create a new DB using the MySQL Wizard option in your CPANEL (write down the info)
      3. Use the CPANEL file manager to upload your RocketLauncher to the new folder
      4. Use the Extract option of CPANEL to unzip the RocketLauncher files into your site
      4. Go to web browser and use the ROOT or the folder name to initiate the Installation process

      FTP option:
      1. Extract the files out of the RocketLauncher onto a folder on your HDD
      2. Create folder to install your RocketLauncher or use the ROOT of the server account
      3. Create a new DB using the MySQL Wizard option in your CPANEL (write down the info)
      4. Use FTP client to upload your RocketLauncher folder files to the new server ROOT or folder
      5. Go to web browser and use the ROOT or the folder name to initiate the Installation process

    • Hi DanG,

      Thank you for your reply.

      However, I'm still extremely confused.

      CPANEL option (preferred):
      1. Create folder to install your RocketLauncher or use the ROOT of the server account
How do I create a folder?

      2. Create a new DB using the MySQL Wizard option in your CPANEL (write down the info)
How do I access the MySQL Wizard option in my CPANEL?

      3. Use the CPANEL file manager to upload your RocketLauncher to the new folder
How do I access the CPANEL file manager?

      4. Use the Extract option of CPANEL to unzip the RocketLauncher files into your site
      5. Go to web browser and use the ROOT or the folder name to initiate the Installation process

    • Hi HCD
Your hosting account does it provide you a GUI interface to control aspects of your server account?
It would be called CPANEL or PLESK.
You should have received access instructions when you opened the account.
