    • I have to agree. I am also using Fireboard and its easy to manage. Works right away and there is a very short learning curve for users.

    • I`ve been testing a few forum solutions for Joomla since i decided to start working on my wife`s business website.

So far i`ve tried/tested .. PHPBB2(actually, i`ve ran phpbb2 for QUITE some time .. not only with joomla but as a standalone solution OR with .. dare i say it ..... /me whispers ..... phpnuke.. :) ), SMF, Fireboard .. from what i gather from the various joomla sites i`ve visited .. those 3 seem to be the most popular solutions for a joomla based environment.

This being said, some of those solutions are more stable and have less bugs since they`ve been on the scene for quite some time(phpbb2 and smf) .. while Fireboard has but 1 *STABLE* release and close to zero components, modules, hacks to add ..

If you want a feature packed solution or if you want ALOT of mods, hacks etc.. i`d go with either phpbb2 or smf .. but the learning curve for both you and your users will be a bit higher than if you would go with Fireboard .. And it`s a HIGHER learning curve if you, from the admin standpoint, plan on working your way into the css files to edit phpbb2 and smf .. i found that Fireboard was better documented when it came to editing the css styles of a theme(maybe i didnt find good documentation for phpbb2 and smf .. but anyways).

Now imho, those 3 solutions should only be considered if you DONT plan on going with PHPBB3 and, like damo stated in the previous post, the Rocketwerk bridge. PHPBB3, in my view, will set the standard as phpbb2 did when it came out a few years ago. I`ve only tested PHPBB3 locally for a few hours but it sure looks and feels like it could be THE forum solution for Joomla in the future.

      Hope this helps.
