    Joomla/template performance

Posted 11 years 11 months ago
    • Can you please give me some guidance on the approach I have taken on my site.

My users are complaining about page loading times and performance. I have done tests with websiteoptimization.com on my old site which is obsolete www.rampantroostermorris.co.uk hosted with one company and my development site s468317806.websitehome.co.uk/Joomla3/ hosted with another.

I need to quickly decide if this is down to the use of Joomla, the templates/framework or the hosting Companies. But the results are shockingly different. Old just 2 Http requests new 169
connection rate download old T1 .95 secs and new 47.2secs. 1.2Mb css images, .5Mb Java script, .5 mb CSS It all looks like a very large overhead for an out of the box configuration and Rocketheme template.

I just do not know what might be the cause. Joomla is currently set with no caching

I know I can reduce the front page picture size but I though the modules and article should be reasonable for a modern technology site.

My old site ran an old CMS and did not have the luxury of all the modules.

I am not a programmer, technical person and know nothing about website optimisation but I do not think I am doing anything out of the ordinary. you can run a report at www.websiteoptization.com and see for your self.

So can anyone please offer some advice as I am nervous about proceeding with such a system.
