Any 1 know of a decent short code system that works great with gantry all i am really after is like a grid layout short code.
And please don't respond with rokcandy lol i know that 1 but that does not really fit want i am after.

Well, if you are not looking for something that would give you all the bells and whistles out of the box then RokCandy is the choice. If you don't want to invest time and create your own RokCandy macros then why don't you just use grid system that comes with boostrap
