    Joomla/Photography concerns...RESOLVED

Posted 17 years 3 months ago
    • I've seen a lot of really nice extensions for photos, however I'm really having a hard time finding any extensions that will work together. Maybe someone has a suggestion.

There doesn't seem to be a Photo Gallery and Forum that will sync with Joomla's users. I don't want ppl to have to login twice. Am I missing something? My big disappointment with the Zoom Gallery is that it no longer has separate access levels for each user. Any user can delete or edit any other user's photo, so I can't use that. Any thoughts?

      Thanks much!

    • Check out datsogallery....
      www.datso.fr/downloads.html
might work for what you need. Would be helpful to know russian language on site but the component is multi-lingual and not too hard to config.
It also works with joomfish and CB I believe...has ajax ratings and users can add from front end, many more features etc.

    • Great, Lurk. Datso works fine! Although, this is a website for pro photographers and they would want the see the digital camera's metadata (EXIF) data. I know that Zoom and Gallery2 shows this info. Are there any plugins for reading that data?

    • Very timely! Just what I need for a site - a photo gallery that registered users can upload pix to.
I shall give it a whirl! Thanks Lurkster for the link and Monsieur Gee for the vote of approval!

Hi, just try to look for ICE gallery. It is fork of Zoom gallery which is bying worked on.
My only concern with this new gallery is future...I have ho idea if they plan J1.5 version. But migration from Zoom Gallery was one click easy.

      About photogalleries:
      1) currently I am using Zoom and I am happy with it (only few details like spam is not fine for me)
      2) there won´t be any future J1.5! version of Zoom Gallery
      3) good project is RS Gallery 2, which has nearly all, BUT it is missing announcement of new comment under thumbs and 99% my visitors come back to read discussion under photos, so with RS Gallery I will lose visitors
      4) RS Gallery has working J1.5! version
      5) Datso is quite OK, but no sign of future J1.5! plans

No other gallery did satisfied my needs
    • I am here to help you. But do not forget to write all information - joomla version and if possible link to your problem. No PM´s unless requested!!
If you send access info in PM, write also link to your site and link to forum thread!!!

Thanks Martin! Does ICE Gallery have EXIF or metadata and will it allow individual users to edit or delete their photos?

    • BINGO!!!

Looks like ICE Gallery is the one! It has fields that show the EXIF data (which pros look for) and individual user control of the uploads!

      Thanks Martin! You da man!
