Any templates not recommended for ie6?

Posted 17 years 3 months ago
    • This is a general question -- since I can't stop people that access my sites from using ie6 (I wish I could), are there any particular templates to avoid that are more likely to give me problems with ie6?

Sorry I posted in the wrong section :-[

    • Yes, there are templates to avoid for IE6.

Website templates. IE6 seems to always have problems accessing website templates. Other than that, it's a great browser.

To answer your question, RT does a great job of bending over backwards for compatibility. But no matter how hard anyone tries, there will always be issues with legacy browsers, especially non-standards compliant ones.

As a rule of thumb, the simpler the better. Feature rich templates like Replicant will obviously be more of a challenge than slim lightweight and fast PixelPerfect. It depends on your site and what you want to accomplish.

I quit accommodating IE6 last year. I just put up a note; "If it doesn't look right or work right, it's your browser, not the website. Between the two, one is standards complaint, your browser isn't."

Besides, the whole world will change starting February 14th anyway. I'm looking forward to it.

Next Patch Tuesday at MS will roll out IE7 to all, even if they have pirated copies of Windows. no more WGA check.
