Control access to content without publishing privilages?

    • Have searched all over the net and having a hard time finding any relevant queries so I thought I would ask everyone here.

What I'm trying to do (using colormatic) is to show a link to a group of users higher than registered but not allow them to post or edit content. Currently I have a static page with a list of links and if I set access for that to special I can of course choose which registered users can view it. To grant them access I am giving the "special" users author access (next highest after registered). This works great and only those with author or above can view the page however it also allows them to post content. I have all site content set so none of it gets published without admin approval but it makes for a tremendous amount of confusion and extra effort having to delete those "special" users post and explain why it shouldn't be on the site etc.

How can I show a module, or content item to a "special" group of registered users without them being able to post or edit content?

      Any ideas?

      Thanks,

      DJ
