Displaying Language variables????

My site seems to have suddenly started to display, what I think, are language variables.
Can anyone tell me what might be going on here?

The bottom navigation, for instance is displayed as:
<< _PN_START < _PN_PREVIOUS 1 _PN_NEXT > _PN_END >>

Does the problem still persist? Works normal for me...
If you still have this problem, try clearing your Browser-Cookies. Could be, that you have - for some reason - an active session there in a different (not installed) language.

After trying to figure it out for a while I just did a backup restore of my site. I suspect that it may have been a corrupted component file but I could not be sure.
The backup of my site corrected the problem.
