Rockslide & Main Menu Question

  • Rockslide & Main Menu Question

Posted 17 years 2 months ago
    • I have a problem... I'm new to Joomla. I like a lot of the functionaliy of the CMS, but there's been a bit of a learning curve figuring everything out.

One of the things I'm currently working on, is having a brief description/bulleted list in a Rockslide module position, with a read more or link to a full static content or custom html page.

The other issue is linking off the main menu to that custom html page? Is there a way to do it? Should I just use static content instead of custom html? Am I missing a plugin that would make my life easier?

      Thanks in advance.

    • 1. That is the right procedure

      2. I would use static content item and just insert your custom HTML in it.

    • Well, static content for the actual pages, but how do I get a static content page per rockslide tab? I was under the impression you had to put a module in module positions 7-11. I can't seem to figure out how to get a static content page as a module in tab1 for example.

    • I've already added several of those, however, there's no way to create links on the main menu that I can see. Any chance you know of a way?

    • You'd need to use 3rd party modules to have static content in modules, extensions.joomla.org

    • Actually, I figured it out.

      1) There are default static content modules called custom html that you can assign to positions. I have yet to figure out a way to link to them off the menu, but in retrospect... I can't see a reason why.
      2) I created menu links to static content articles I'd created.
      3) I added several custom html modules to the rockslide, and then used the read more href link and pointed it at a static content article I had created, including the id for the menu location.

Works quite well, and is about the only way I could find to do what I wanted. All of the above is using default mods with no extensions. I did install Linkr later and really like the tool.
