Ts&Cs on every download -- A Major Retrograde Useability Step

    • While trying to download this month's template--March 2008, I noticed that the download process had been changed through the addition of a
Terms & Conditions page to which I have to agree to continue. I have two issues with the workflow for downloading a club template file:

      1. I am presented with a long set of Ts&Cs that require scrolling through to accept prior to every file download

      and

      2. As a professional member I am not able to agree to the first clause outlining my usage rights because I paid extra not to be limited in the way specified by this clause.

The first issue is a downright useless pain which can be obviated by just stipulating that by pressing the download button one agrees to the relevant terms and conditions. That being said, the terms and conditions are different for different levels of membership, so one could quite readily provide a blanket acceptance of the relevant ts&cs at joining or renewal time and not be bothered with this microsux vista-type affirmation at every button click.

Come on guys, you have to think of your users/customers once in a while in determining if a change is actually beneficial to anyone at all!

As for the second issue, this is not being pedantic because if I agreee to clause 1, I actually voluntarily limit my usage rights and can leave myself open to action for violating those ts&cs should I exercise my rights as a Professional Member to provide a RocketTheme to a customer's site.

    • Another vote for the removal of said nuisance msg.

I'm sure RT appreciates the feedback. As I understand it they are still working on getting the downloads section back to it's original snazzy condition... so this is likely to be temporary.

    • This is indeed a mistake. Earlier this week we had to upgrade and reconfigure docman due to some software issues and incompatibilities and during the process many of the settings were changed or reverted back to their defaults. This was causing a very old and out of date Terms and conditions notice that predated the Pro Membership to be displayed during the download process.

It should now be disabled and should no longer appear when you select items to download. The current Terms and Conditions remain unchanged and can be viewed here: www.rockettheme.com/Terms_amp_Conditions/

Sorry for the confusion everyone, still working out a few kinks with the system and getting settings back to their original state.
