    IE8 beta

Posted 17 years 1 month ago
    • I can't help it I was bored and sometimes I experiment! Fiddling with the computer is my addiction of choice.
      I installed the IE8 beta.
I wasn't surprised that it broke stuff but what is curious.

My Moomenus for VIII got shifted down and several of my images that had been sized right expanded to their full size.

My fix so I can use New Rotator and get the font smaller doesn't work.

Guess I have to go fiddle. It is interesting to Emulate 7 and see it work and switch and see it move. I had gotten used to it working in the FF beta and IE7. Off to fiddle...

    • Oh happy happy joy joy, another non-web compliant, broken browser by Microsoft to code for.

My knees are weak just thinking about it and my head is swollen from banging it on the wall. ;)

    • I have to say, I don't get this attitude. From everything I've read, Microsoft has gotten IE8 to work in a standards compliant way with HTML and CSS in IE8 as evidenced by the Acid 2 test. How is this being non web-compliant?

I mean, the point I so often see made is that developers should code by web standards and force Microsoft to support them, yet when Microsoft moves to actually do so (regardless of their timing and however we may impute their motives) somehow it's perceived as something else to take insult over? It just seems a little bit schizophrenic to me.

    • Well Chad, given IE's wonderful ::) history, my expectations are very low for IE8.

Frankly I wish that IE would just go away.

    • BTW, all RT templates use conditionals such as "IF IE 6" or "IF IE 7" so these fixes should not affect IE 8
