    Help with X-Cache... ANYONE???

Posted 17 years 1 month ago
    • Can someone explain to me how to EASILY install X-Cache (PHP Accelerator)? I am so confused when reading their wiki instructions! Keep in mind I use a Mac and Cyberduck (FTP client), and I have a Linux Hosting Account through GoDaddy.

I have no idea how to use this, so instructions from scratch would be great.

      Thanks so much,

      -Chris

    • It really depends on your setup, and the best way to find help is to search google with keywords such as "xcache centos 4.6" or whatever to help find some specific instructions.

    • Can anyone provide me some detailed instructions... I can't find any anywhere that I can ACTUALLY understand!! Once again, I use a Mac, Dreamweaver, Cyberduck (FTP) & GoDaddy shared hosting.

      THANKS ALOT!

    • The only thing I don't get is where exactly do you enter (type) the prompts? I think this is too complicated for me....

Have any of you tried a Joomla accelerator extension, like JAccelerator? Are they any good?

I just find my site kinda slow to load......

      Thanks,

      Chris

    • Have never used x-cache, but I will assume that it's a server-wide apache extension.

This means you'll have to install it on the server. You will need either a VPS or a dedicated box. If you have either of those, you will have SSH access... and the prompts are typed into the SSH client. I suggest putty.

If that is all greek to you, then you really shouldn't be doing this yourself.

As you said, better to try JAccelelrator or IRCMaxells PageCache, both Joomla extensions, which I have never used :)
