Easiest way to get sample data after install?

    • If Joomla 1.5 is already installed, how do I get the sample data if I simply install the template? If I missed a step for installing sample data, is there any way to upload the sample data without killing all the changes I made to the template by re-installing?

    • Just upload the installation folder, delete your configuration.php file and run the install again. Ensure your database is cleared as well.

      But before that, backup.

Sounds scary. Won't that wipe out our existing content? Partial data restores are no fun. And we've made enough changes to our RT css files that it's more work than it's worth to restore those.

Joomla 1.0-to-1.5 migrations are frightening enough without going through the config nightmare again. Sorry, RocketLauncher J1.5 from is a dream compared to migrations. No stomach for that.

I was hoping for something cleaner, where I could just ftp up some files or insert some record via PHPmyAdmin, but I guess I was dreaming. Unless, of course, I misunderstood something.

    • It depends entirely on how your site is setup, if its just an empty site with just your template modifications, then just backup your template and do a reinstall. It depends on the specifics.
