I am about to upload the "Dimensions" Rocket Launcher to my web server but I have just noticed that a .htaccess file already exists in my public_html folder. Should I delete this file? The destination folder is empty, apart from this.
The htaccess file that comes with the Rocket Launcher is htaccess.txt you will only use that if you plan to use SEO or SEF settings (I don't recomend it - I answer more problems with that turned on). So you shouldn't have to delete your one on the server.
OK, thank you. I'll leave it alone and hope for the best!
I followed the video tutorial for installing a RocketLauncher template (see
demo.rockettheme.com/jul07/media/video_t...ncher_full.v1.2.html
)
For the life of me I can't understand why this, and other articles I have read about the subject, tell you to upload the files into a folder OTHER THAN the public_html folder ??? In the tutorial the files are uploaded to a folder within the public_html folder - is there a reason for this? I simply uploaded mine directly to the root folder - seems more straighforward to me.
Well technically the public_html is the ROOT directory for the public. But this depends on your server setup. If your server is pointing to the public_html AS your visable root than that is where you would place all of your files.
Best way to tell?
Do you have a public_html or www folder already?
No, than you are already there, upload the files and enjoy.
Yes, than you are REQUIRED to upload them in the www or public_html folder.
Have both? No problem... www links to public_html and visa-a-versa
