Rocket Launcher probs

    • I'm trying so hard...but some major things are escaping.

I think I uploaded the Chromatophore template to my FTP. Somewhere (I think RocketTutorials) is said to do this:
The speed of transfer varies with hosting server speed and your internet connection speed. It is best to upload the extracted folder to the public_html directory so the path to your Rocket Launcher pack is public_html/Joomla_RT_Rocket-Launcher-package-name/.

So I put it in the public_html directory. I read all of you saying you put it in your root directory. I'm not understanding the terminology here. HELP!

When I then type in: www.maverickauctionservices.com/Joomla_R...uncher_Chromatophore
I get the following error -

      Not Found
The requested URL /Joomla_RT_Rocket_Launcher_Chromatophore was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
      Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 Server at www.maverickauctionservices.com Port 80

How many, many things have I done wrong?

      THANK YOU!
      Shannon

    • If you just extract the archive (Joomla_RT_Chromatophore.zip), the folder should be called Joomla_RT_Chromatophore.

      Upload it in public_html directory.

      Then, type in: www.maverickauctionservices.com/Joomla_RT_Chromatophore
and you should be able to install Joomla.

I see that you have INSTALL.php in your public_html folder. If you have other Joomla files from your previous installation, remove them.

    • Sorry it took me so long to get back. Coupla family crisis semi-diverted.
      I'm back.
Thanks, Yves for taking the time to try to help me. I'm sorry to be a dunce with this....Joomla is all new to me.
I type in what you put there and it didn't work. Then I typed it in with the _j15 at the end because I think that's what mine's called. Didn't work. I'm new to working with this FTP space too. My old host handled that part for me, I think. Anyway, a while back I downloaded Media Mogul to work on another site and downloaded that and just started working with that on my own computer host. But I went ahead and got hosting and FTP accounts and downloaded the Chromatophore to the FTP now. I haven't downloaded anything else to the FTP. I had some trouble downloading and started over. Do you think it's got excess files because of that? Should I delete them and start over?

Thank you! And sorry for so many questions!

    • Thanks for getting back to me. I tried to delete what I had somewhat uploaded to my root. I hit delete on a folder on the right and it's been scrolling through and going crazy deleting some things and saying permission denied on some things. Going so fast I can't really read it. It's taking a long time! I probably deleted the wrong thing and it'll screw up my whole FTP space. @@ I want to scream. Hopefully, it will stop soon and I'll try to figure out what I did.

    • Yup. Looks like I hit delete on the main top folder. Have I ruined everything?

    • I made a little progress and now it's worse. What would someone charge to go through and see what I've done wrong and make sure my Rochen/Go Daddy/FileZilla are all set properly. I've banged my head on this too long. I need to move on.

      Thanks!
