- Can I really not download themes after my expiration? The one's I paid for at least.

I am not an Admin here nor do I want to speak for them so will just give my personal opinion.
You have not paid for the themes; you have paid for a membership to the club. Once that runs out, so does your access to the content.
Much like a gym membership, once your allotted time runs out and you do not continue the membership, they will not allow you back in to use only the same equipment that you used before.

- Makes sense... I just don't agree with the system. I have been a member for 2 years. I would have hoped I could use the themes that were created within my membership subscription.

read the TOS here
, which you would have agreed to upon purchasing a membership.
It's quite clear that membership is time-based. You do not "buy" templates per se, however you are allowed to use whatever templates that you downloaded during your membership period as per the TOS.
I hope that this helps clear that up.
