I have a DVD a client gave me of an interview they want to put on their site however the file size is approx.800+MB. I've tried to reduce it to an AVI format but I'm still ending up with a 100MB file size. I was hoping to get it a little smaller. Any ideas or suggestions on how I could get a smaller size and/or still use the 100MB file w/o eating up all the bandwidth on my site?
I've been trying to compress a video I have, and found out FLV does a VERY great job in compressing the file size. It is also supported by many browsers. AVI just seems to big, and I would perfer that file format for my PC and not online. I was able to compress a 32mb avi to 12mb FLV.
AVI is good for download but not for streaming... If you want to stream this video, the better format is FLV but for a good balance between weight and quality you'll probably have a file with 125Mb up to 180Mb. If you dont have a pro software to convert the file like On2 Flix Pro or Sorenson Squeeze, you can use Flash Video Encoder or import the avi into the Macromedia Flash. It will take many hours to encode the file but the result will be good for streaming.
