    • Hello Rocketthemes...

It's been a while and happy new year to all. This small thing I have ignored has finally got to me and I would like to ask your professional advice on how to change the working in the upper left hand side of the browser.
I use FF and I would like to change what it says right next to the icon...Cna't explain this well but I'm talking about the wording that appears when you go to rockettheme home page... it states
Joomla Templates and Phpbb styles- Rocketthemes- Mozilla Firefox

      How do you do that?

      Thanks for reading!

    • Nanci,

Thank you for the reply. It seems that a plugin known as JoomSEO is messing things up. I have had a title in the parameters systems but it gets all messy when I enable the title in parameters. Kind of weird but probably think that this is not an RT issue... I have to take this up with the joomla forums.

      Thank you again.

    • I can HIGHLY recommend sh404SEF - another SEF URL component available from the extensions site. It's the only one I ever use.

    • Ragdata,
Thank you for your opinion. I am using both extention and have the SEO for sh404 turned off. However, I would like to know from your experience, how does your site rank with search engines using just sh404sef? I am using both extensions and find that after activating JoomSEO, my site jumps into one of the top rankings. SEO is a tricky thing and I don't guarantee top spots but this extension seems to work for me. Maybe just lucky.

    • SEO is definately tricky - and of course you know that success isn't about a Joomla Component - it's about a LOT of good keyword research and on-page optimisation. One thing I can tell you is that the RT Templates get EATEN UP by Search Engines and they themselves contribute to well-placed pages in the Search Engines.

Check the site I've listed in the 'Member Sites' forum - Castle Glen Australia. In that post I've detailed 4 of our optimised search terms and how they're performing. The next step for that site is a bunch of backlinks to improve the PR (currently hovering between only 2&3).

      That site uses sh404SEF.

Hello Nanci, thanks for your response. I did a little tweaking and noticed that I can't change the name on the upper left of the browser. I disabled JoomSEO and tried using sh404sef and now the title appears as home.

It seems that whatever name I have in my menu, e.g. home... it will appear as "home" in my browser regardless of whatever I put in my parameters system title.

I'm still figuring this out as I go... but this is something that I long ignored in the past.
I'm thinking for changing the title in the html but can't find it in the template... funky...

Thanks for trying to help out though!

    • Either:

      1. Admin > Site > Global Configuration : Site Title
      2. Menu > mainmenu > Home > Page and/or Item title
      3. Content > Frontpage Manager > Content Item > Title
      4. Content > Static Content > Content Item > Title
      5. Content > Article Manager > Article > Title
      6. In your 3rd party SEF component configuration

    • prim,

Thanks for the awesome suggestions. I come to think of it, you jotted everything what I had in my head except for the last one, which is the 3rd part extension. I believe that it was my third party extension overriding the title... but then again I'm not sure.

I'm using sh404SEF and added some words in the "Insert before page title" This worked but I was still not able to get Home out of there. In addition, although I have added some additional words to the title, I need a partition to keep them apart...

in my example it looks like... welcomehomerestaurant, I go to other pages within my site and it looks like welcomereservationrestaurant. I was thinking of adding "|" in between the words but hesitant because I think it might mess up the seo because search engines won't be looking for the word welcome, they'd be looking for welcome | I think... I hope I'm wrong.

Or is there another way to add a partition?

It's funny because on another separate site, I don't have this title problem at all while both sh404SEF and Joomseo or operating at the same time...weird.

But I just want to say thank you for the suggestions! I did the first 5 and they didn't work but it was definitely worth a try... leading me to believe my problem is an extension problem.

    • Hello,
I've been fiddling around with the meta.seo Insert before page title in sh404sef but can't seem to partition the words.

In my site, the upper left has no partition separating the titles so it appears like word1word2word3 instead of word1 word2 word 3

Does anybody know how to fix this or do I have to put - after writing each word in Insert before page title...

      Funky...
