When I tried to install Mixxmag template , I got this error:
Unable to uncompress data
Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/.elke/ccadmin/jm.net4j.org/libraries/joomla/filesystem/archive/gzip.php on line 77
Unable to find install package
It's a new 1.5.9 site, default template works fine.
I extracted rt_mixxmag_j15.tgz file from the .gz file, then tried to install
My poor old server has problems with uploading the gz files under 1.5 as well - mind you, it's probably my own fault ... been a little while since I recompiled PHP there.
Anyway ... the quick way I use to get around it is to uncompress it locally, and then recompress it as a .zip
I don't have any problems after that - maybe the same will work for you.
Thank you for quick responses. May be I am confused,
1. I first decompressed (using winzip and also gzip)the rt_mixxmag_j15.tgz.gz file I downloaded into re_mixxmag_j15.tgz file
2. I then attempt to uncompress locally the .tgz file ... I tried winzip and gzip, both ran into errors saying archive file is wrong.
I now use WinRAR, first go from xxx.tgz.gz to xxx.tgz, but when I try to uncompress xxx.tgz, it says "the archive is either in unknown format or damaged".
I just re-downloaded the rt_mixxmag_j15_tgz.gz file again and same problem. I must be missing something?
Right-click the tgz file ... "extract to ..." - enter the directory you extracted it to, you should see a rt_mixxmag_j15 folder (perhaps even the same name as the folder you auto-extracted to). Right-click folder ... "add to archive" ... select 'zip' rather than the default 'rar' and click OK.
You should be able to upload the resultant zip with no problems.
first I right click on the xxx_j15.tgz.gz file to extract it, I got the xxx_j15.tgz file
then I right click on the xxx_j15.tgz file to extract file
winrar reported that the rt_mixxmag_j15.tgz file is invalid, and popup says 'no archive found'
I am on Windows vista.
I am still missing something... sorry for the trouble.
I'm wondering where you got the tgz.gz file ... last time I downloaded the Mixxmag template from ROCKETTHEME, I got a straight-up tgz file. Please tell me you didn't download it somewhere else and then come HERE for support?!!?
