Displaying only parent, current, and child menu items at left column

The default installation of Joomla has Home, Joomla! License, News, Blog, Links, Contact Us, Search, News Feeds, FAQs, Wrapper as the main menu.
If I click on any of these links, I want to only display the parent menu, current menu and child menu items like following in the left column
-Home
--News
---Item1
---Item2
---Item3
How do I do this?

Hello Jia Tan,
In your joomla backend administrator - Menu Manager, set "News" parent item to be "Home".
Then set the parent item of "Item1", "Item2", and "Item3" to be "News".

Hello Jia Tan,
In the menu manager, just Unpublish the menu items for Joomla! License, Blog, Links, Contact Us, Search, News Feeds, FAQs, Wrapper.
It will not appear in your frontpage anymore.
