Move logo from CSS to index.php

    • Is there any way to change the main logo and header graphics of a template from being CSS images to being 'real' images that are delivered via the page as normal?

I'm asking because some versions of IE don't pick up logos occasionally, and I also had problems with using an image rotator for the header gfx on one template because it wasn't a standard image but a CSS image. And, it would also solve a couple other minor niggles for me.

For my use it may be better if the gfx are on the page, not in CSS, though I appreciate this is less flexible and doesn't suit everyone.

I guess this means the logo and header graphic need to be added to the template index.php. Anyone got a code example please?

    • ...and let's ignore the case where the header / footer bg are the whole page bg. Maybe just look at the case of the logo, alone.

    • Hi,

Especially the latest RT templates offer a solution for you.

      1. In the Administration, go to Extensions > Template Manager.
      2. There you click on your template.
      3. If you are using one of the latest RT templates, scroll down and you will see "Show main logo".
      4. Set this to "No".

      5. Save your template settings.
      6. Go to Extensions > Module Manager.
      7. Create a new module by clicking on the "New" icon on the right top.

      8. Choose Custom HTML and click next (or click on Custom HTML).
      9. Now down the page you get your regular editor and put your image in there.
      10. Most important, set your new module to the postion "logo".

      11. Save your new module

You're done! No background image, but a real image logo.

    • Hi Piet,

That's very good stuff there. Nicely documented as well, thank you.

Unfortunately I'm using Joomla 1.0 series at the moment. I guess there are some advantages to moving to J 1.5 then...

Will have to do that soon I suppose.
