    • The quick easy answer is Populus:

The maybe better answer is that any template will work for you and it really depends on your creativity and how much you want to work with it. My strategy for choosing templates usually starts with making sure I have the positions available first, then the features, then the styles. I do this because it's usually easiest to tweak things in styles, a little harder to put in new features, and takes a little more effort to put in new positions.

    • Thanks for your reply.

I agree with your 'better answer' completely. However, although I made quite a few websites and know a thing or two about HTML and CSS, most of my websites were quite simple, not even making use of all the features most RocketTheme templates have to offer. Furthermore, the project I currently have in mind is the first involving CB and from what I gather, CB takes some effort to get the hang of. So the 'depends on how much you want to work with it' part is what worries me most. A template that was designed with CB in mind probably gets me on track much quicker and with less hassle. So I'll give Populus a try first.

Apparently Populus is a somewhat older template and although it already has a Joomla! 1.5 specific version, it was created for an older version of CB. Do you have any idea if using Populus with CB's current version 1.2 will cause a lot problems, or challenges if you will :cheesy: And can you predict more or less what I may run into, if I try to use the Akiraka template overrides in combination with Populus?

    • As for using CB 1.2 now, that has actually been out for CB subscription users to use for a good long while and I don't recall seeing any issues posted related to the version of CB on there. I want to say that a beta version of 1.2 has been out for over a year now.

As for what will and won't work, I think the best thing to do is set up a test install and put several templates on there and see which ones have issues. If you do see an issue somewhere, try using a different position for the module and that may help solve the problem easily. The style overrides may come into play a little, but these can be a combination of what's going on in CB's style and Joomla's style. They can usually be solved fairly easily with Firebug. The only trouble I've run into is tracking down where something may be in the CB style code, but that's just because I've only glanced at it and don't use it regularly. You may even be able to set up several different menu links to CB all assigned to a different template and just click through. Remeber positions may differ from template to template, but it could give you a good side by side comparison.
