Force article to display activate menuitem

  • Force article to display activate menuitem

    • I have a News module on the Homepage (Joomla mod_newsflash). If user clicks the news item it takes him that individual ARTICLE. This is great, but I want to display a module to the left of each News article, which lists all the other news items. I can associate a module with a menu item OK, but I cannot find a way to tell the system "for this content page - please think that you are on the News menu item".

Any ideas? I am still quite new to this. Using Joomla 1.5.9.

      Thanks, Keith

    • Hi,

      A known problem.

I assume the items it links to from the news module are from within a certain category or section.

What I tend to do to solve this, is to create a menu module that is not visible (think of for instance setting the position for that module to the debug position).

Then in that new menu module I create a category or section link - when my assumption is correct, you make that menu link to your news category/section.

Now you can set the module you want to show to be associated with that (hidden) menu. Et voila, links from your News module now show with the module.
