    • Retired, but build and run websites for organisations of school leaders and others - e.g. http://www.icponline.org, http://www.aspa.asn.au, http://www.appa.asn.au

    • I have used WAMP for a while without a hitch. You can configure it to match your server environment exactly and install Joomla sites or any sites for that matter on your laptop or pc...

After your done use Joomlapack to create it on your live server....

    • Great the Joomlapack with XAMPP as worked great!! Site is sitting locally perfectly even when not connected. And as far as i can see it will be just as simple to update it live!
      Thx guys

    • All worked well till ...
I have downloaded form www the backup installed it on the XAMPP Sql and worked great, managed to complete a lot of work offline :) .

Then i have tried to backup from XAMPP to re install to the www. and all seemed to go well till I tried to unzip the backup file with WinRAR and a diagnostic message shows that every file is corrupt. And it will not even export the file.
anyone know what is going on here?? I ve tried to both Backup methods in the configuration/ advanced setting and same thing happens.

    • Yeah the backup was made with joomlapack. I have no idea where to even start looking at the problem, as far as i know it could be with to configuration of joomlapack or XAMPP. The mysterious thing is that it work fine when i backed up out of the live site to the XAMPP and i can imagine why it shouldn't be different on the way back

    • Don't unzip the backup and FTP, upload the zip and extract it on your server.
    • Thanks,
