Anyways, I am very happy with the ease of Joomla and Rockettheme and everything looked great on my website. BUT then I went to my house and checked it on my laptop. On my laptop everything was great until I started viewing the articles. When I hit the read more buttons on my blog layout the browser took me to the article I requested where on that page the right module shifts left. I know you have no idea what I am talking about as you probably, like others, cant see it (since it only seems to happen on 1 out of every 4 computers and mostly with laptops). So, to identify the problem and maybe get a diagnosis and some help I have taken some screen captures and hopefully together we can identify the problem.
If you go to my website
www.homeresourcecarolina.com
you will see on the home page your standard logo on top left, ad banner top right, your user 4-6 modules, and the right module that I am using for login, displays, and text ads. I have posted a sample of this at the below link:
Then if you were to scroll over the articles tab (next to home) a dropdown with High Country articles will open and lead you to a selection between Magazine Articles or Design Profiles. When clicking either of these you will be taken to a blog layout that looks like this at the below link:
As you can see the right module with the ad under featured business and the login have not shifted and still are in the correct location. Now, here is where the issue occurs. When you find the article that you like and you click on the read more button to read the article, which as content is king, is the most important step to this equation, the below happens making the article unable to read by shifting the entire right module to the left:
Now, after figuring this out I have posted on Rockettheme's forum to no avail because the people that were trying to help did not see this. Hence the screen captures. I have tried reinstalling the templates, switching the right module to the left module. etc. I am using Solar Sentinel by Rockettheme, but noticed that the problem only occurs on Rockettheme templates. If I change to free templates, or the standard Joomla template, the right module does not do this. Another thing I found peculiar is that if on the computers that this occurs, if in IE browser you select compatability view from the toolbar it fixes the problem. This however will not work as a permanent solution. Which is why I wrote this. If you could help that would be great. Thanks.
I havent resolved the issue. It is still occurring on random computers. Some computers the module doesnt shift, others it does, thats what Im trying to resolve. Any tips?
Ok. On my browser on the computer that I am using to build the site? Or on the computers that are having the issues. Because if it is the computers that are having this module shifting issue, there is no way I can tell everyone that visits the site that sees this to clear their browser cache.
Ok, clearing the cache didnt work. The right module still shifts left into the articles unless I click the "compatability view" on ie browser. Which is a similar situation. I dont think I can contact every user that sees this problem and tell them to click that button on the toolbar to fix it.
That seems to be the problem. It doesnt happen on my computer either. I was rather excited at the progress of the site, and then I saw the problem on the laptop at my house. Its wierd. Thats why I attached the screenshots. I dont understand it either but Ive got to resolve it somehow. I appreciate the responses so far, keep them coming if you have anymore. If not I guess I will be forced to find another template and stay away from the rocketthemes since they are the ones that this problem is occurring on.
Ok, so it seems to work when jomcomment is disabled. thanks for the help. i guess now i should contact them and see if they can solve that problem. If they cant do you have any suggestions for a good comment system and a plugin that can place a read more button on blog layout based on word count. Thanks again
