Why do articles default and display in the main body section

I have been using Joomla and RocketTheme templates for a few years now. One of my largest complaints from customers has always been "why do articles display in the main body section? Why cant they display on a new page".
I have never found the real answer to this as I place a fix in place that correct this. If you install sh404SEF the articles appear not in the main body but instead on a separate page.
Why do you need to do this in order to show all articles on separate pages. Nearly all my customers hate the main body sections. RocketTheme has so many great features for the top of your site like slideshows, etc. When a visitor clicks on a link and an article displays down in the main body section many times they have no idea what happened or where the article opened?
Any thoughts or suggestions on how to force articles to open on a separate page. If you place an article in the main body section using the menu then that specific article should stay there. All others selected via links, modules etc should display on a different page where you can see them - Mark

I just happened to be looking into the read more, page break, and other plugin features, along with the parameters for articles themselves>title clickable etc...to see if it would effect this behavior. By the sounds of users at joomla.org, it's not just a few cases and maybe something they are featuring in v1.6 Joomla! of the future.
I don't know if this will help you or not, but I believe this to be true...that is, the tidbit at the bottom. If articles are set to show in blog layout styles the read more keeps you on the same page. That's all fine and dandy until you have to do it on the front page, in which case I guess publishing and using the params for the front page manager might be the ticket...?

I do get this "it's my page only" behavior randomly when I hit links from the Rokpager.

Hello,
I am having this question/issue and I dont find the way to take rid of it.
when we have the articles in the frontpage, then we click on any of them, the full article shows again in the mainbody content container with obviously, all the modules around it.
so the question remains! how the heck we can have the full/expanded article show in a separate page WITHOUT all the modules around??

do you have a link to your site so we can at least see the problem?
in case you are using a gantry template, try to disable the "menu-less pages" setting in the template parameters > advanced...

HI all,
I have been having this same issue. I have tried to disable the menu-less pages to little affect. Is there a solution to this issue? There appears to be a number of threads on this but none offering a solution.
How do I get article to open on a new page?

hi again,
if you would like to open new articles in a new page, you have to create a new menu item which is connected to that article either through a single article layout or blog layout.
if you do not want to show that new menu item, make sure it's set up inside a menu module, which is published but not assigned to any pages. if you search my posts for 'hidden menu' you'll find some replies where i explained that more detailed.

Its an unusual issue. If I open the article from the main banner it opens on a new page fine. If however I open the page from rokstories or roknewspager the article opens in the main body on the home page. Does the issue lie in roknewspager/rokstories?

- Even stranger, some roknewspager items do open in a new page, whereas others dont... really confused with this?

Hi Kat,
Thanks for that. I have created a hidden menu using the tips below
''
1. Create a menu called “Hidden Menu” in Menu Manager.
2. Create a menu item in the Hidden Menu and link it to your article as “Single Article” menu item type.
3. Create a new module called “Hidden Menu” in Module Manager as Module Type of “Menu”.
4. Select the “Hidden Menu” from “Select Menu” under Basic Options in the right column.
5. Select a position that doesn’t show up anywhere on your site or just simply “unpublish” it.
6. In the Menu Assignment, choose the “Only on the pages selected” option and just select the check boxes for the articles under the Hidden Menu.
7. You need to repeat Step 6 for every new article you create later.''
Once I have this, how to I link rokstories to the article in the hidden menu?
