Rackspace Cloud issues

    • Hello.

I have been installing some Joomla sites on Rackspace Cloud using the Refraction template.

At first, when I navigate to the site's main URL (=Joomla front page) I get nothing but a white screen. Then, about 12 hours later, the front page is a white screen with an error along the lines of "no suitable nodes". I can't regenerate the error at this time or else I'd give you the exact text. Finally, at some point in time after seeing this error, I browse to the site's main URL, after having made no changes whatsoever, and it seems to work fine. Rackspace Cloud says that this is not an error on their end, and suggested boosting the memory available for Joomla sites where I install the Refraction template.

So the question is, has anyone else experienced these odd occurrences, can anyone tell me the real reason behind these occurrances, and does anyone have a solution for these occurrances?

      thanks much!

    • We got some same problems here about white blank page after installation. Most of the cases are because the memory limit in the server is too low. Please ask your hosting to increase it more like 64Mb?

    • Thanks Arifin.

Turns out the problem is with the RokTwittie module which we didn't really plan on using so I uninstalled it from our Joomla setup. Here is the error that was being generated btw ...

PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function children() on a non-object in /mnt/stor2-wc1-dfw1/406982/www.csstudiosonline.com/web/content/modules/mod_roktwittie/roktwittie.class.php on line 172

    • I am experiencing similar problems with Rackspace CloudFiles Hosting. I get an error which I am told is a 500 error. (I've attached an image of the page that I get).

This happens with certain extensions, one of which is the new version of RokTwittie, and nobody seems to know what the problem is. No PHP errors in the logs either.

If anyone has a clue what the issue may be, it would be great to get it resolved.

    • Hello Guys, does this happen only on RackSpace? Have you tried with other server or localhost? Does the issue still persist on other servers?

    • I tried out one of the extensions (not roktwitte) on a standard godaddy hosting account, and it seemed to work fine there...

    • Interesting, I'm getting the same sort of error over here: architecturalcontext.com.asp1-21.websitetestlink.com/index.php but on a HiveMind template. I'm hosted on the rackspace cloud, and migrated a functional site over from a client server ... poof every page load pulls up this "500 - Unable to load renderer class" . I'm intrigued that it seems like a fairly recent issue ...

    • I asked, and this is the answer that I got:

"It's kind of like asking Coke, what their secret formula is. This information is proprietary to our environment."

What I mean is like their PHP version, apache version, whether they have suPHP installed, etc. This is not a secret formula at all :)
As some of you said, the issue doesn't happen on another hosting and only occurs on RackSpace, so, I think there must be something wrong with their Coke :D
