Need to put a full width wrapper (Please Help)

  • Need to put a full width wrapper (Please Help)

    • Hi,
I am a newbie and got the vortex template up and running. I need help in adding a wrapper top menu item to my template and add a url like www.firefox.com , when clicked on the same it should display the firefox.comin full width. This should be exactly the way wrapper menu item for Vortex is implemented.

I searched all arround and I did not find any answers. It should be simple as its implemented already.

We want to use the wrapper concept to our "Forum" menu item so that we can display the forum in full width on our web site.

      Thanks in advance,
      Ravi

    • Do you not just create the wrapper and then make sure you dont have any modules published on that page. Thus not using up any of the space either side.

    • In order to get the wrapper to be full width (the template's full width, which may not be as wide as the monitor/browser window) one must disable any modules that appear in the left or right columns.

For example, if one has a poll running, one would need to log into the administrator section, go to modules, and select the poll. There will be a list that shows the menu structure, and probably has "all" selected. Select the menu items where it should show up, but make sure to exclude the wrapper.

When module locations have nothing in them, they collapse.

      Hope this helps.

    • Thanks for the pointers. I was wondering will this work the same way for SMF forum integration as well? meaning I would like to create a Forum menu item in my joomla site (with single signon) and have it appear in full width on my joomla web site.

For example I would like to do something like www.playamayanews.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,246/

Because I saw few discussions in this forum of modifying the Forum template to add template headers in order to accomplish my above requirement..

I am not sure whats the right approach.

Looking forward to hear from you,
      Thanks
      RG

    • SMF and Joomla can be integrated in the way you want to, this forum being a prime example of that.

It isn't quite as easy though. You will need to install one of the bridges (this site is using the joomlahacks.com bridge), and you will need a theme for your forum to match the theme for your site.

There are a LOT of posts on integrating SMF and Joomla!, a little bit of searching should turn up everything that you need to know.
