Splitmenu - How to show the same content item under different parents?

Posted 18 years 2 months ago
    • Hello,

Can somebody tell me how to show correctly the same Content Item under different Parents in a Splitmenu? I'm building a portal where part of the content items should appear under different parents in the menu structure. Immagine we want the same article named "Rocket Theme" under both parent menu titles "Joomla" and "Themes". So we configure the mainmenu first adding "Rocket Theme" to "Joomla" and then we add it to "Themes" as well. In this case if in our split menu we click Joomla and then "Rocket Theme" everything is fine: the parent "Joomla" and the child "Rocket Theme" will be highlited in the menu structure as "Joomla" > "Rocket Theme". But if we first click "Themes" and then "Rocket Theme" we will be redirected again to "Joomla" > "Rocket Theme" (while the menu structure should show ""Themes" > "Rocket Theme". Any solution for this? Other than duplicating articles...

      Thank you for your attention.

    • You should be able to have as many links to the same content as you want...you just have to create them in all menus you want them to appear in.

    • Thank you Michell. I don't have any problem to link the same content item as many times as I want and from any point of the menu hierarchy. My problem is that the split menu remembers only one path for higlithing the parents of one content item. I use Elixer template with a horizontal tabbed menu with another two sublevels on a vertical submenu. If I click a tab (=main level) then choose a sublevel item and I link it to an another mainlevel's tab sublevel, the result will be that every time I'm clicking this item the menu system will show the original path associated at the first mainlevel tab.

It's difficult to explain with simple words (and English is not my mother language). You can check my website: www.ungheria.it . If you click the first tab (L'Ungheria) and then the 7th item in the vertical menu (Cultura) then you see an another sublevel item (Letteratura). Then if you click the second tab (Cultura) you have the same sublevel item (Letteratura) in the vertical menu. Now the two content items are duplicates. Before I tried to link the first content item also to the Cultura tab, but then when I clicked the menu item (Letteratura) the Cultura tab was not highlited anymore because the menu highlited again the first tab (L'Ungheria) and showed the first path: Tab L'ungheria > Cultura > Letteratura (instead of Tab Cultura > Letteratura).

Sorry for the complicate explanation, I don't find a simple way to show the problem.
