Possible to recreate the j2.5 joomla/ext update buttons?

Would be possible, or is planned to be in a future, to do joomla/extensions are up to date buttons for quicklinks?
Obviously I mean buttons that autoupdate if there's something updatable

- all the extensions are bundled in the one MissionControl package. When there's an update it should show up in the extensions update button in the dashboard.

Not what I menaed, since j1.6 joomla has 2 buttons to check if joomla is up-to-date, and if there's any extension (not just missioncontrol ones) update
The buttons are in default quick icons module, they update as an iphone app with notifications if there's any...
If you put quick icons in cpanel position it loads no icon but a list...
So, would be possible either to have code quickicons working normally in any position or adding these 2 buttons (they rely on Quick Icon - Joomla! Update Notification & Quick Icon - Joomla! Extensions Updates Notification plugins) to mission control quick icons (with notification working)

This is exactly what I'm looking for too -- a way to get the iPhone-like updating icons back as soon as I log in, that show when updates are available.
I've added a screenshot to make it clear which icons I want to add to the dashboard.
