Hey guys, maybe you know the answer.
How to properly take information from anther site, without google starting to hate yours for sealing information.
The problem is I need to put some technical description and charachteristics if some equipment and I wanted to take it from manufacturers site. There's just no easy way to modify that info so that it appears unique.
Maybe prohibit SE in robots.txt?
Put the link to the source page?
Or am I too extreme about it?
I'm just scared to compromise the whole site, buy copying info on certain pages.
Re: Google rankings- take information from other site

Hello,
It really depends on the context in which you pull the information. For us, we have all the same basic facts as the manufacturer, but we added to it and rewrote it a little bit to make it different. If you have products and such, it shouldn't be a problem for you. Remember, there are lots of sites with the same products. If you are taking other information, such as FAQ or stuff like that you will want to rewrite it so you get originator credit for it. If you take it just like it is from the manufacturer's site, then you will get some credit, but you will just be helping the manufacturer out more.
