SOLVED "Invisible directories"

    • Hi,

I recently encountered an issue with a directory acting as though it wasn't there. Here's what happened. I accidentally deleted an entire image directory for a template I was working on. I thought, "no problem; I'll just get the directory from the original zipfile on my desktop and replace the deleted directory" After I did this, paths for that directory no longer functioned. As far as I know, the file name is the same (and isn't misspelled); the directory is named accurately; and the path is identical. Also I have triple checked the stylesheet paths which point to these files numerous times. To test against this, I moved one of the files to a different image directory and corrected the path in the css file to reflect that change. When I did this, the image appeared exactly as it is supposed to. But when I change the path back to the original directory, it behaves as though the directory isn't even there, even though the path appears to be correct. I am curious if anyone has ever encountered this problem, and if so, what they did to correct it.

      Thanks

May I know whether you got any error message such as "file not found..." ? The error message will help us to detect which file is missing

    • Arifin,
Thanks for the prompt reply. I just figured this out last night. For some reason, the permissions on the files contained in the new directory were different from the other default permissions settings in my root. They were set to 0640, I believe, instead of the standard 0644. I corrected this last night and it solved the problem. But there was never an error message or anything. The style elements the css was pointing to simply did not appear on the front end. Now, everything is good to go. I will mark this as solved. Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly.
      RT Rocks!
