    I'm mad, paypal pissing me of!

      This has actually nothing to do with the Rockettheme community but im currently mad so im writing this anyway. So just let you guys know.

      We are a company based in Sweden providing security softwares, we use PayPal as a 3rd payment method, since we use 2Checkout and Moneybookers as primary gateways. And i recently hired Arifin, yes the moderator here at rocketheme. To do some custom javascript work. And we paid him, after some day i got an email that PayPal held the money. I think, thats strange...

      So i logon our PayPal account, it's exactly what he says. It where because we received another fraudent transaction the 16th of December, and it got chargeback (claim). And now PayPal totally freezed our account. We had in total €7300 (Sales of December through PayPal)

      Our account is fully verified account, and now we cant touch the funds until 180 days. Since it says "This limitation cannot be appealed" The funny thing is, they requested the last verification letters 17:09 today (GMT+1) and they where very positive at me. I thought this would be fixed shortly, i hate be owe some person money, and in this case it's Arifin. 17:13 they totally frozen my account and i got an email that said "Appeal Denied"

      I called them and they said the reason was we recieved too many fraudent transactions in a short time. We recieved 2 fraudent transactions of totally €83, of totally 147 transactions we have had during December month through PayPal. I dont say that is alot of fraudent transactions. Since we have more through 2Checkout.

      And same day (today) like this they even charged our creditcard with some random amount (€210).
      So what pissing me of is that PayPal's system totally sucks, and i cant pay Arifin like i wish had. Actually i can pay him, the money isnt the issue. But still i feel bad that our transaction got frozen, and makes us look bad.

      Soon i go personally to PayPal's "fraudscreening" department, and teach them a lesson of real fraudscreening. PayPal is just a bad joke, I'm glad we made the choice to not make PayPal as primary gateway. Anyway, we doing our best.

      All i want to say now in the end is just how greatful i am to Arifin, that trusts me and continue working on the custom work. This is really a great community, and also for people that using PayPal alot, stay out from PayPal so much you can, otherwise it might be your death.
      So how do you want it, should PayPal be your death, or might you be the one that kill PayPal? :mrgreen:

    • I do a lot of work with clients in the Caribbean and other non-US locations and with the restrictions placed by the US government, those other countries' governments and the service providers, there are too many non-US-based businesses getting the shaft.

      The one issue I 100% agree with you on is the fact that PayPal made you and your business appear very unprofessional when neither was. If this were not Arifin and instead someone else wanting to get paid, they may not know this is not a regular thing with your company and would therefore have a tarnished image of both you and the business. Not cool. It is in that respect that payPal needs to seriously reconsider their policies here.

      BTW, in the US, I had 6 fraudulent charges to my PayPal account from apparently the same source, and a fraudulent withdrawal. Amazingly PayPal never locked my account (they had me immediately change my password and completed elevated monitoring) and immediately conducted a 4 business day investigation of the fraudulent transactions, at the end of which all was restored by PayPal. But again, that was US-based. Once I started doing more overseas business I became a naughty person in their eyes. :cry:

      All we can hope to do is try and help make the situation better. I work to assist these matters in the Caribbean and truly believe with local businesses behind the efforts, change is in the future.

      Good luck Jonathan and hopefully 2011 will be increasingly successful...without PayPal :P

    • PayPal sucks outside of US, paypal freezed my personal account before because there was a man with same last name in same city that had a ebay debt of about $80. So that ended up with they freezed my account and i couldnt raise my limitation until i sent them a cheque.

      So screw PayPal, they are just pain in the ass. They would never come into the european market.
