I am trying to make a web site for my brother's campaign. He wants to use CoCard for donations. I have never heard of them before. He told me they said to set up a shopping cart and then I can get some kind of code or something. RokQuikCart doesn't have an option for CoCard, nor do any of the other extensions at the Joomla Extensions Directory that I can tell.
I am just a hobbyist with web site creation and I have never even created a shopping cart before. My brother is stubborn and won't use paypal. Does anyone know how I can set this up? Is anyone familiar with CoCard? Thanks in advance for any insights from anyone that can help.
Well that makes things a little difficult, doesn't it?!?
Either your brother has dealt with these people before or someone is trying to sell him on it. If he's dealth with them before, he will have account information you need to set up the cart.
But here's a point for your brother to ponder:
You are taking political donations so people will be skiddish about an "unknown" money service. His campaign is not the venue nor is this the time for him to educate his consituents on a new financial institution. He's selling himself right now, not them. For this reason, I'd veer him towards PayPal. They are well known worldwide and have a well earned (and here's the keyword here: ESTABLISHED) reputation for honest dealings.
Since he's going to be a "public figure," he'd be best to stick with "tried, true and KNOWN" vendors rather than being a "maverick" with people's money.
In short: If his constituents don't know the program, they won't play. They don't play, he may not win.
So, the short and sweet of it is: Paypal (known) vs. CoCard (unknown). I'm betting Paypal wins if he thinks about it long enough.
(You are more than welcome to quote me as a "constituent" on that, LOL)
In case you don't have it, here's a good, working link with information on CoCard. The fact their policies, terms and rates aren't posted make me hesitant about them. The best thing you can do is call them and discuss HOW they work with other site owners and what shopping cart codes they use. Get a client list and check it out. Read More Here:
