I have a problem I am struggling for a while now
my chmod folders and files are right now
I have joomla 1.6.4
all folders and files are 755 / 644
configuration file is also 644
the FTP layer is also on and works perfectly.
now I still have a problem, the folder rights are all red in Joomla admin.
I tried to turn it on 775, still remain in the red folders. The only thing that helps keep the directory green (writable) is as 757. is this safe?

yes. the folders are all 755 and all files incl conf are 644.
so, to set the folders to 757 is not safe?
i will mail my hoster about this
by the way, i have vps server with directadmin, can i check this issue? or is the hoster the only one who can check this issue ?

The problem is, it all depends on the file you are working with, but a 757 basically means you and everyone else can Read, write and execute the file.
