Webhost Disc Space - How to reduce?

  • Webhost Disc Space - How to reduce?

    • Hello

I have a friends site hosted on a server with a limit of 250mb and right now the usage is 272mb.

Nothing new has been uploaded to the site and I need to know what files I can delete without affecting the site.

I have mailed the hosting company who have become pretty rubbish over the past few months, and I am planning a move of sited to Hostgator in the next month or so.

      Can anyone help please?

      Thanks

    • You cant really reduce it much and if you do... you will only hit the limit again in the near future.

Best option is to move somewhere else that offers more space, 250mb is very very small!

    • I would have to know more about your setup. Are you using cPanel, Plesk, WebAdmin, Linux, Windows, etc...

Your friends CMS might be duplicating files, generating huge logs, or creating unnecessary thumbnails, three random things that have happened to me in the past. The size of the site shouldn't be growing for unknown reasons. I have clients that negotiated specific disk space because they know they won't need huge allotments and have had zero problems for years.

I guess it depends if it's worth trouble shooting the issue or just purchasing more space.

    • Do you know what your biggest contributor to your disk space usage is?

      Log files
      Email repositories
      Video files
      Image files
    • Thank you,
      Jason
