    • I just renewed my membership to RocketThemes! ;)

I am looking at the Camber template and I am wondering what the front end login might be used for? If a user registers with my site, can that enable them to add comments to articles or something? Could it be used to restrict certain content to non-members?

Why else might someone register to a free site?

      Thanks,
      --Jeff

    • Hi there,

Logins are usually adopted to restrict content. This includes the ability to submit comments or articles, sign up for newsletters and a whole raft of other options based on various third party extensions.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • I would like to have a newsletter for my site. Usually when I see other people's site that allow people to signup for their newsletter, I only see an email box. Does it make sense for someone to have to register to a site to sign up for a newsletter?

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a newsletter 3rd party extension? I have googled it and they are a whole lot. I would like to get an opinion on one that someone has used.

    • Hi there,

Sometimes it is easier to have one registration to cover all aspects of your site, from content to newsletters, to forums etc. Most newsletters will let you sign up via an email address but you need to consider legislation in different countries as some require double-opt in registration. :D

I have used jnews and there are various levels ranging from free to expensive depending on your needs.

I have also used mailchimp and this requires a steep learning curve initially but it works well.

I am sure other members will be able to add their experiences.

      Hope this helps 8)
