Copying template from one site to the other (not installing)

- Hi all, I would like to copy an RT template from one site to the other. Under Joomla 1.5 I could just copy it to the template folder and it would be available for me to choose. With Joomla 1.7 it doesn't show up since it seems the only way to install templates is through the extensions manager installer. I'd like to just copy it since there are many changes I made to the template and want to use it on the new site. Any info appreciated. Thx.

Is there any reason you wouldn't just backup the site and restore on the other? That would move everything exactly how you have it.
What type of "changes" do you want to keep?
Is the version of Joomla the same on both sites?
Is there content you need to preserve on the target site? - B

I wanted to copy the template from a J! 1.7 to another J! 1.7 but not the rest of the content.
I ended up using Jupgrade on a J! 1.5 site which needed to go to J! 1.7 and that copied the template over. I'll see how much work needs to be done since going from 1.5 to 1.7 results in all kinds of funny quirks. I might start all over and use your suggestion ladbroke, so thanks.
I'm sure though, that there's some way to just copy a template without having to use the installer. I'll keep digging and post here if I find anything.

- Hi, There is no reason to start over if I understand what you are trying to do correctly. You want to use a heavily modified template from one site on another site, i.e. achieve the same modified look? If this is the case, just install a fresh template, then copy over every image and css file from the modified template (overwrite the new ones).
