Need a YouTube video manager

  • Need a YouTube video manager

    • A client of mine is a TV station and they are going to start posting videos to their YouTube channel. I'm looking for something similar to this: www.hdvideoshare.net/demo/index.php , but w/o terrible code and hopefully W3C compliant. Contus works on the iPad, which is also required, but I really don't want to go down that road.

A fully automated system would be ideal: client uploads to YouTube and the Joomla site picks it up via RSS. This probably won't be the case, so I need something that will make managing the videos easy for the client.

I've dug through the JED, but haven't seen anything yet.

      Any ideas?

    • YouTube lets you create "Players" and "Channels" then you can embed those on your site. I've used this for things like college club sites where people need to upload things but don't need access to the whole site.

You can get creative with how you set up the channels with different ones on different pages. This way they really only need access to the YouTube account.

      Hi Radium Hosting,

I had been searching for the same thing and the closest thing I found in JED was Viper Youtube Video Gallery Pro (Commercial), from the more subject-targeted extensions...
The only bad thing about it is that it does not *yet* support youtube feeds...but I contacted them and they said they are planning to include this feature in their next release...
Very close but still not completely sold...

Then I thought I'd better look in the feeds extensions for a candidate...and I found a great match!
I found this great extension, Ultimate Feed Display (also Commercial, 8€ worth), which can also pull videos from youtube feeds and present them in an article/blog like way.
      - It pulls title, image, information, text etc
      - It supports multiple feeds
      - It can filter based on key-words
      - It supports pagination
      - It displays the videos in a jquery lightbox window which loads really fast and works great.

It does not work exactly like the software you linked to - I also was looking for an extension with a stable, inline, space for the playing video - but I am still very happy. It works well enough not to make me care I missed my "original specifications" for the extension I had been hunting for.
I really like it, makes me feel like I got two extensions for the price of one.

If you want, you can checkout to see how you like the way it works in my site, here

It is worth mentioning that the developer is very quick to respond and very efficient in solving possible dysfunctionalities. It's not two days I got the extension, and he already released two-three updated versions with the features and the solved issues I bugged him about.

A third solution, which does not support feeds, however, is Phoca Gallery...not a lot of people know it also supports videos...of course you have to add the ids of the videos you want to be included individually...but if it is free extensions you looking for, this one should definitely be in your list.
I am having some issues with the boxplus popup engine, the best, more versatile and feature rich included in the extension, not all popup engines support video, but I can't tell if this is a general bug.

      Anyway, good luck..
