Invoices & Billing, how do you handle your clinets?

  • Invoices & Billing, how do you handle your clinets?

    • I'm trying to get a hold on invoicing and managing clients, I'm right now trying out WHMCS which seems to be able to handle all of it but not real keen on it. I'm still trying to get everything worked out in it and see if I can get the hang of it a little better. I really like using FreshBooks but the monthly expense adds up. Any recommendations or help on this matter would be appreciated!

      Thanks,
      Kent

    • I have always used Freshbooks. When I let them know the monthly fee was too much for me and I was going to cancel, they were able to provide me a substantial discount. They just asked me what I thought was a fair price. Here was my contact at the time.. this was back in 2009 :D

    • Thanks Jeremy,

It was a no go with FreshBooks they said it would save me twenty dollars a month using it. Trying several different products, I like Billings for Mac but doesn't allow payments on invoices which is what I want.

      Thanks,
      Kent

    • yeah, the payments on invoices is exactly what I use freshbooks for :) lol too funny..

what I have been doing now, since I dont do a lot of work is keep it under my free clients, and just delete the customers when I am done with them.

    • I have been using WHMCS for a few years now and I would be lost without it.

Always happy to help if you get stuck.

    • Thanks David,
Still trying to get WHMCS worked out or should I say trying to learn it. Got very comfortable with FreshBooks and it's hard to switch I really want the client to be able to pay when invoice is sent.

    • Hi Kent,

Are we talking about automated invoices such as hosting and domains or additional invoices for design work?

If the latter then what I do is create the invoice. Save it. Then using the email dropdown, at top right of invoice page, select the 'Invoice created' option and click on send. The invoice is immediately sent to the client and provided you have a payment provider such as Paypal configured to WHMCS, then they can click on the link and pay.

Automated invoices such as monthly hosting are run by cron and invoices are generated and sent when the cron runs.

      Hope this helps 8)
