Hosting multiple sites or installations with Joomla 1.5
Posted 17 years 3 months ago
Greetings... I have found very little on the topic of integrating multiple joomla installations with 1.5
There is a component for 1.0.x that I tried running in legacy mode, but it did not work...
Basically I have a main site with other folders/subdomains running as independent websites... I want to be able to have different content and templates, admin, etc for each but I would like a way to link logins across the board... Meaning, you sign up and register at one site, you have access to all sites, each with different features and content...
I thought 1.5 would have this built in, because Drupal does I believe... Is anyone knowledgeable in this? Also, is it better to have one large database with different prefixes, or run smaller separate databases for each?
Or, is there a component out for 1.5 that links numerous joomla sites/installs?

Thinking about it now, I wonder if the JFusion bridge could be made to do this. JFusion is a bridge for phpBB3, SMF, IPB and VBulletin but I can't think of any reason why It can't be modded to bridge two joomla installs. I would put in a request with the JFusion people.
Heck, if you get a positive response from them... I might be willing to pitch in. It's a non-commercial project but I'm sure some form of monetary incentive wouldn't go astray.
