A-aah... NO-UNDER. I never thought of that. I think Chris' answer sounds more plausible! I prefer to think Nounder is maybe a game like Rounders, but played with words.

Rounders is also an old term given to those who play poker for a living; you are pretty close, as, ergo, a Nounder is someone who hustles Scrabble games in the park and spelling bees. Nounder: N-o-u-n-d-e-r. Nounder.
