Would you say Joomla is Mash-upable or is "older technology"

    • Hi, general question.

My clients are asking for Web2 Mashup style sites. Personally, I would like to respond that I mashup Joomla! by adding Google maps, rss, YouTube video etc, but perhaps I am bending the definition and the two are not compatible?

      Wikipedia's definition of Mashups en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashup_%28web_application_hybrid%29
tends to put "portals" in the "old technology" catagory, and "portals" tend to be built on CMS like PHPNuke and Joomla.

Does anyone have an opinion if the definition of a mashup is so strict that it must be pure xml, or can using Joomla! as a framework allow for creating mashup modules, or for simply putting code on a content page that brings together information from different sources and filters it, say to display a Google map linked to a Tour de France news feed??

I am going to ask this on the Joomla forum as well.

      Julie
